Computer monitoring - Helping you to use the Internet more responsibly
Would you like to...
- Demonstrate you can use the Internet appropriately?
- Be responsible for managing your own activities online?
- Get support to change your behaviour on the web?
With Securus, you can.
What is Securus?
Securus is a computer monitoring service run by The Lucy Faithfull Foundation. It gives you the freedom to use the Internet responsibly, while capturing unacceptable or illegal activity. By monitoring your computer use, Securus encourages you to take greater responsibility for your own actions and be more accountable for how you use the Internet.
How does it work?
Securus is a small computer application that must be installed on your computer or laptop. It works by scanning your screen for any inappropriate words, phrases or content. It covers most computer use, like websites, email, instant messaging, social networking sites and documents.
If Securus finds anything inappropriate, it takes a record of what was happening on screen at the time. Each record is sent automatically to The Lucy Faithfull Foundation for trained staff to review.
Is it easy to install?
Securus only takes a few moments to install. It will not affect computer performance and most of the time you won’t even notice that it’s there. If you do have a problem, technical support is available.
How much does it cost?
The service costs £42 per household per month. The minimum contract period is 12 months.
What do our users say?
Securus helps promote positive online behaviour and encourages users to be more accountable for their actions. Some of our users said:
“I feel I’m actually doing something positive, something constructive. It made me feel like I was getting back on the right side of the law.”
“I think for me it reaffirmed and strengthened my resolve; and was an extra deterrent for any improper use.”
