Lucy Faithfull Foundation pays tribute to Tony Morrison
It is with immense sadness that we heard about the tragic death of Tony Morrison. Today we pay tribute to a great man.
Chief Executive, Hilary Eldridge said: “‘The Trustees and staff of Lucy Faithfull Foundation are appalled at the tragic news of Tony Morrison’s death in a snowmobiling accident in Canada.
“Our staff have been active members of NOTA since its beginnings in the early 1990s.
“I remember the drive and enthusiasm Tony displayed in setting up NOTA and the way in which he engaged and worked collaboratively with others to establish it as a true ‘grass roots’ organisation. He was someone who made a real difference to staff working with child sexual abuse and to the effective protection of children and vulnerable people.
“His subsequent work in respect of supervision was both groundbreaking and influential; his focus on the rights of client groups and the duties of professionals towards them was always refreshing and inspiring.
“We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Tony’s family and our friends and colleagues who knew him well. We will all miss him so much.”
Tony was a founding member of NOTA and was their first chair from 1991-1995. Anyone wishing to post a tribute to Tony can do so on the NOTA website.
About the Lucy Faithfull Foundation
The Lucy Faithfull Foundation (LFF) is a child protection charity committed to reducing the risk of children being sexually abused. LFF’s staff work with adult male and female sexual abusers; young people with inappropriate sexual behaviours; victims of abuse and other family members.
Established in 1993 and named after its founder Baroness Lucy Faithfull of Wolvercote, LFF draws on its cutting-edge knowledge about child sexual abuse in its broad range of activities. These range from research based assessment and treatment of known offenders and their families, consultancy and training for professionals, to the prevention campaign Stop it Now! UK & Ireland and its Helpline, which is available to the general public and to professionals.
LFF engages with offenders in particular and provides a unique set of services aimed specifically at internet offenders and their families. Support is available to help offenders' partners gain an understanding of the issues and offers ways to protect children.
It is LFF’s policy to work collaboratively with individuals and agencies of all types concerned with sexual abuse to develop a safer and more child sensitive society - in families, in faith communities, in schools, in residential and foster care, in leisure facilities and on the Internet.
For more information about what services we can offer child protection and public protection professionals, please download the brochures below. Hard copies are also available - requests should be made to the training co-ordinator on 01527 591922 or email training@lucyfaithfull.org.uk.
